COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

The rules that keep Sum2Do great

Sum2Do is built on trust. These guidelines exist to keep the community safe, welcoming, and fun for everyone. By using the platform, you agree to follow them.

Be Respectful

  • Treat every user with kindness and respect, regardless of their background, skill level, gender, race, or identity.
  • Harassment, bullying, threats, and intimidation are never tolerated — online or in person.
  • Discrimination and hate speech of any kind will result in immediate account action.
  • Disagreements happen. Handle them maturely. If a conversation turns hostile, disengage and report.
  • Remember there's a real person behind every profile. Communicate the way you'd want to be treated.

Be Honest

  • Use a real, recent photo of yourself. Profiles with authentic photos build trust in the community.
  • Write an accurate bio that reflects who you are and what activities you enjoy.
  • Describe your meetups truthfully — location, activity, skill level, and what attendees should expect.
  • Don't misrepresent your experience level. It's fine to be a beginner. It's not fine to pretend you're not.
  • If you're a host charging for a meetup, be transparent about what the fee covers.

Be Safe

  • Follow the safety tips on our Safety page. Meet in public places, tell someone where you're going, and trust your instincts.
  • Report any behavior that makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe — we investigate every report.
  • Don't share personal information (home address, financial details) with people you've just met on the platform.
  • If you see something that doesn't look right — a suspicious profile, a scammy gig, or concerning messages — report it.

Be Reliable

  • If you RSVP to a meetup, show up. Hosts and other attendees are counting on you.
  • If you can't make it, cancel as early as possible so someone on the waitlist can take your spot.
  • Chronic no-shows hurt the community. Repeated no-shows without cancellation may result in reduced visibility in search results.
  • As a host, start on time. Respect your attendees' schedules the same way you want yours respected.

Content Rules

  • No spam, self-promotion, or unsolicited advertising in meetup descriptions, chats, or profiles.
  • No illegal content, activity, or solicitation of any kind.
  • No sexually explicit or graphic violent content in photos, videos, or messages.
  • Keep language in public-facing content (meetup titles, descriptions, profiles) appropriate for all ages.
  • Work gig postings must be for legitimate tasks. No multi-level marketing, scams, or anything that sounds too good to be true.

Host Responsibilities

  • Write accurate meetup descriptions. Attendees should know exactly what to expect before they join.
  • Show up on time — or early. As the host, you set the standard.
  • Manage your group. Make newcomers feel welcome and address any issues during the meetup.
  • If you need to cancel, do it as early as possible and notify attendees through the meetup chat.
  • Respond to questions in the meetup chat. A responsive host gets better ratings and more attendees.

Consequences

  • First offense (minor): You'll receive a warning with an explanation of the violation.
  • Repeated or moderate offenses: A red flag is added to your profile, visible to hosts reviewing join requests.
  • Serious or continued violations: Temporary suspension ranging from 7 to 30 days depending on severity.
  • Severe violations (threats, fraud, illegal activity): Permanent ban with no appeal.
  • We review every case individually. Context matters, and we aim to be fair while keeping the community safe.

Reporting

  • To report a user, tap the three-dot menu on their profile and select Report. Choose the category and add details.
  • To report a meetup, open the meetup details and tap Report. Explain what's wrong.
  • All reports are reviewed by our trust and safety team within 24 hours.
  • You can report anonymously. The reported user will not know who filed the report.
  • After reviewing, we'll take action ranging from a warning to a permanent ban, and we'll notify you of the outcome.

These guidelines may be updated as the community grows. We'll notify you of significant changes. Questions? Contact us at support@sum2do.com.
